Our History

Leesburg Presbyterian Church was founded in 1856 with 13 members; five married couples and three others. The original church was a frame building on what is now the northeast corner of the Leesburg Cemetery. In 1901, a new brick church was built and dedicated on the site of the present church. In September of 1928, it was destroyed by fire. The church had just called a new minister, The Rev. William A. Lloyd, but he hadn’t arrived yet, so they called to tell him not to come because there was no church. He decided that the people needed him more now, so he came anyway. During the two years it took to rebuild a new church, the Rev. Mr. Lloyd held services in the United Presbyterian Church, which was located at the site of the present Grace Cunningham Smith Funeral Home. After this they had services in a school house one-half mile north of Leesburg.  The Rev. Mr. Lloyd was pastor for 31 years.

In 1990, the church added a fellowship hall, offices and classrooms. It is currently part of the Shenango Presbytery and has 218 members.
