Sixty Plus
Meeting the first Thursday of each month, Sixty Plus invites all seniors to participate in the fun, food, and fellowship that are a part of every gathering. Meetings are held either at Leesburg church, or at one of the two other local churches that rotate turns hosting this event. The day starts with a tureen luncheon at noon followed by a short program provided by local individuals or groups. All seniors are welcome; please contact the church office for information on upcoming meetings.
Heart to Heart
Seeking all women ages 16 and older to join our group for a special experience that is sure to encourage you and grow your faith. This ministry is a unique program that strives to build relationships across all generations of women. It is a chance for mature women to share with the younger generation their years of experience, challenges, and their enduring faith and love in Jesus Christ. Heart to Heart meets approximately four times a year for special events or outings. In addition, members have the option of receiving a “secret sister”. “Secret Sisters” remember each other with prayer, cards, and inexpensive gifts throughout the year. In February, “secret sisters” are revealed at a fun gathering and new secret sisters are received. Heart to Heart currently has members ages 16-90, and would welcome all newcomers!
Ladies Bible Study
The Wednesday morning Bible study started nearly 15 years ago for women. However, as the years have passed, the study was opened up to men as well! Past studies have included topics such as End Times, 10 Commandments, Sermon on the Mount, Parables, and Angels. Members meet each Wednesday from 10-11 a.m., after which many of the members go out to a local restaurant for lunch and fellowship. Currently, members are taking January and February off, and will resume meeting in March with a study of Hebrews.
Outdoor Ministries
- Annual Shoot-Out
This event is geared towards men and boys of all ages. Held every year in January, there is always a good turnout and great time is had by all. This year’s event featured skeet shooting, a 50 caliber military rifle, and a 22 caliber rifle target area. Every year a wonderful spread of food is provided by Leesburg’s very own Paul McConnell, who is famous for his wonderful cooking!
- Camping Weekend
Every summer a camping weekend is organized for all who are interested in attending. The campground that Leesburg has used the last couple of years offers camper sites, tent sites, as well as very nice cabins for rent. In addition, there were also very nice play areas for children, a swimming pool, bike trails, pontoon rides on the lake, and much more. Everyone is invited to the potluck supper on Saturday night, which is a nice way for all to participate in this weekend, even those who cannot attend the whole weekend. Last year we had nearly 100 in attendance at the potluck supper. This is a weekend where people can get to know each other better in a fun, relaxed environment and worship God together around the campfire! Check the homepage in late spring for details on this year’s camping weekend.
- Annual Golf Outing
Every summer Leesburg hosts a golf outing at a local golf course for all who are interested. This golf outing is for all who want to have fun and you are NOT required to be a great golfer! In fact, several people have attended that were golfing for the very first time. It is a relaxed day of sport, followed by a luncheon, donated prizes, and a time of devotions. Join us this summer for a wonderful time for fun and fellowship!
Leesburg Lighthouse
Twice a year members of Leesburg church, both young and old, share their God-given talents on the stage, in the kitchen, and behind the scenes, as they participate in a dinner theater production, with proceeds going to various mission projects.
